Biofeedback and Neurofeedback

Louise Ellis is an experienced BASES Accredited Sport & Exercise Scientist CSci (Psychology Support) , and in 2009 became the first BASES accredited sports scientist  to creatively apply the latest APA approved biofeedback and Neurofeedback training and monitoring to support athletes. Louise has used this specialist with hundreds of professional and elite athletes –  supporting them with mental preparation, performance and recovery. Biofeedback is a process of monitoring body responses, such as muscle tension & fatigue, Galvanic skin response (emotional and stress response training), heart rate variability, breathing / respiration, body temperature, and electrical activity of the brain – known as Neurofeedback.

It is widely regarded that when an athlete experiences a change in their mental or emotional state, whether conscious or unconscious, there is a change in the physiological state. The same applies when an athlete experiences a physiological change – there is a simultaneous change in mental and emotional state. Using the latest biofeedback and Neurofeedback technology, Louise provides athletes with tangible evidence about their psycho-physiological responses so they can learn a variety of sports psychology techniques to self regulate the brain and body in either active or passive performance settings.

Louise’s work ranges from supporting the athlete with pre-competition sickness, mental preparation, performance enhancement and performance recovery.  Louise is able to monitor an athlete’s muscular tension, stress levels, brain states, respiration & heart rates and provide regular tangible evidence to the athlete throughout the season or during individual monitoring and self regulation sessions.
